Phew! What a scorcher. Another couple of days ahead for the heatwave. A good excuse for a long, cool beer.

What's new?

We're looking ahead to the beginning of September this week, as many workers are returning, and in a couple of weeks school kids will be starting classes.  During the first week of September, MonacoUSA have a number of social events planned, which should make for a friendly start to the month. Budding entrepreneurs who've spent the holidays dreaming of working for themselves can enter the Jeune Chambre Economique's business plan competition - the best ideas win grants, services and products to help them get started. For those of a more artistic bent, Galerie l'Entrepot is organizing the Open des Artistes competition again, for a chance to have your work adorn the cover of the Monaco telephone directory. And finally, two Monaco restaurants are participating in Tous au Restaurant, the French foodie festival in which diners are offered specially devised 2 for the price of 1 menus. It looks like we're set for a delicious rentree.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Stephane Belmondo blows his horn (Friday too).
Friday: Monaco at home to Arles-Avignon.
Saturday: Pyrotex Fireworx lights up the sky.
Sunday: movie adaptation of Jane Eyre.

Coming up next week, entrepreneurs' apero, international networking, and Spider Man spins another web.

(1) This week's quote is the title of a musical film, co-directed by and starring Gene Kelly, born this day, 1912. Perhaps he's more famously known as the American in Paris, and for Singin' in the Rain.
