The sun did not shine... (1)
Is your apartment in need of a spring clean-out? If so, check out this weekend's Monacollecte at Port Hercule. Organized by SMA and the Mairie, the event aims to help you get rid of anything that can't be put in the regular bins, for example, medicines, batteries, ink cartridges, electrical goods etc. Charities collecting clothes, toys and books are attending, and there's entertainment too.
Also on Friday and Saturday, the Kermesse Soeur Marie takes place at Fontvieille Circus Tent, selling all sorts of goods to raise money for charity.
"Chenilles processionnaires", or pine processionaries, have been spotted at Port Hercule, the UNESCO Garden (above Fontvieille shopping centre), and Monte Carlo Beach. If you see the toxic caterpillars, you're advised not to touch them, and dog owners especially should keep their animals on a lead.
Next week sees the start of road resurfacing for the Grand Prix. Most of the work takes place from 8pm to 6am. Check the schedule on the Government site.
Next Thursday the Hermitage Hotel is organizing an evening called "The Sea is Green". It includes a piano recital and a 4-course dinner by chef Yannick Alleno. Price is 410 euros pp, +377 98 06 98 98.
The theme of this year's Rose Ball on 25 March is Bollywood. Shoe designer Christian Louboutin, whose exhibition visited Monaco last year, is in charge.
Further ahead, some tickets for Monte Carlo SBM's summer festival are already available. Sting is expected to play an outdoor gig on 23 July in Place du Casino, 250 euros pp.
And finally...
The kids are back at school, strikers are back on the streets. Tuesday 7 March is "France a l'arret" day. Ho-hum.
What's in the diary...

Friday: A son, a mutant, or a fighter.
