Congratulations to Monaco FC for winning its first home game of the football season, 4-0 against Tours.

What's new?

In other sporting news, Team Monaco is standing tall at the London Olympics, where both Angelique Trinquier (100m back stroke) and Mathias Raymond (skulls) beat their personal records.

Back in Monaco, musical tribute acts dominate the bill over the next few days, featuring songs by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Queen, as well as interpretations of European cabaret music. Monaco Open Air Cinema's program for August and September  includes a horror-history mash-up, a rom-com, and a couple of action movies.

There's a new manager in place at Platinium, a local's bar tabac somewhat off the beaten track. The more well-known Le Bouchon bistrot has introduced some lighter dishes for summer, and its 17 euro lunch menu makes a tempting option before or after a visit to the Extra Large exhibition at Grimaldi Forum just over the road.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: young drummer and old master.
Friday: Red Cross gala.
Saturday: Brazilian jazz.
Sunday: today we're shuffling.

Coming up next week, fundraising happy hour for Outward Bound Monaco, musical fireworks, and another chance to see Batman.
