Today is a holiday, but you can still depend on receiving your weekly guide to what's happening in Monaco.

What's new?

Many shops in the Metropole Gallery are open for business as usual today from 11am to 7pm, but if the weather's fine, we're planning a lazy day in the sunshine. Down at Larvotto Beach, operation "plage propre" (clean beach) is being organized for the 3rd year running in an effort to keep the area free of cigarette butts. Ashtrays are being distributed to visitors on weekends from now until the end of June, then daily from 1st July to 15th September. If you'd rather avoid the gritty sand, you could visit the Stade Nautique in the port, which has been open since the end of April. The Olympic sized pool is heated to 26 degrees, and a day on a lounger with a parasol costs 12.50 euros. Unfortunately the stadium is surrounded by Grand Prix stands and equipment at the moment, so you might prefer to get out of Monaco. Public beaches at Cap d'Ail and Roquebrune Golfe Bleu are both close to Monaco, with beach bars and restaurants for when you need a cool drink or light bite. Enjoy!

What's in the diary...

Coming up next week, literary lunch, celebrity soccer, a Prince and a President.

For lots more suggestions, visit maBoum's 7 day listing and enjoy your weekend.
