Monte Carlo or Bust (1)

There was a roaring start to the Principality's major events calendar earlier this week as the Monte Carlo Rally departed from Casino Square. Winners receive their prizes at the Palace on Sunday.

What's new?

Monte Carlo International Circus Festival starts this evening, with shows most days until 26th January, and lots of associated events such as the football match between Prince Albert's Barbagiuans and a team of circus performers (see Thursday's diary link below for circus information).

Several restaurants received new diamond ratings at the beginning of January, including One Apple, which is hosting a Vivanova Club wine tasting event next Thursday. Red Restaurant's chef Julien Tosello has introduced some seasonal changes to his menu, with dishes that use chestnuts, foie gras and scallops, alongside the house specialities. Lunch formulas are available for 14 and 16 euros. A couple of doors down, expect to see some changes at L'F restaurant, the Italian eatery that opened in 2012. Local restaurateur Iacopo La Guardia has been appointed temporary manager.

Finally, a new English bookshop has opened in Condamine. BOMO book boutique has plans to host events and is sure to be popular with the local anglophone community.
