The joyless winter day?

At last the sun has returned, but even with a "sky o'ercast" you've no need to fear (1). There's always something happening in Monaco to raise your spirits.

What's new?

We hear the management at Chez Tony is to change. It's one of the many restaurants on the Rock catering for tourists, coach parties and cruise visitors. Several places also make a brisk lunchtime trade serving local administrative workers. It pays to get a recommendation before making a trip up to Monaco Ville, so let us know if you have a favourite Rocher restaurant.

It might be cold outside, but if you wrap up well you can still enjoy one of Monaco's many green spaces. And now a lesser known private garden has come to our attention. SBM's Monte Carlo Bay Hotel has won a silver medal in the 2nd edition of the Victoires du Passage garden landscape competition.

Finally, the Monaco Jazz Chorus (MJC) is organizing three concerts in February - check out the program on maBoum's MJC agenda.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Fruity or spicy? It's all Greek to me.
Friday: Happy students unite to party.
Saturday: Musical fusion at Moods.
SundayFour romantic musicians and three funny guys.

Coming up next week, the Art of God and of the film director.

(1) Wondering where the quotes come from? This week we've chosen a poem by Scottish bard Robert Burns called "Winter: a dirge", which is how we've been feeling about the weather up to yesterday. Part of the poem reads:

"The sweeping blast, the sky o'ercast,"
The joyless winter day
Let others fear, [....]
