What's new?

Monaco is famous for sporting events like the F1 Grand Prix, Monte Carlo Rally, and Monte Carlo Rolex Masters, but there are lots of smaller scale activities for those interested in team sports. For instance, one of Monaco's lesser known clubs, AS Monaco Rugby, is taking part in the 2012 Coupe de France à 7 (7-a-side French Rugby Cup). Matches are being played in Chateaurenard over the weekend of 2nd and 3rd June, after which 16 teams go through to the finals 2 weeks later. More information from the organizer's website: Federation Francaise de Rugby.

Two new sports associations are currently being set up in the Principality. The Association Monegasque de Polo has just been established, with a recently created Facebook Page. Polo isn't an activity that can be taken up easily, unlike American baseball, which is the sporting basis of another new association. Founders of the club are hoping to start classes in September for children and teenagers, and are looking for coaches. Anyone interested should contact Anne-Valerie on avdray.c[at]gmail.com.
