Let freedom reign (1)
Motor sport madness makes a sedate start this weekend with the Historic Grand Prix.
What's new?
Don't forget that the Grand Prix circuit is closed to traffic on Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and Sunday, so circulation will be slow. If cars are not your thing, get out of town completely with Monaco USA, which is organizing a gourmet golfing day on Sunday in Grasse.
Montgolfiere restaurant has published its May menu, which includes the intriguing starter of "sushi-risotto". A gourmet 3-course menu costs 39 euros, unfortunately closed on Saturday lunchtimes.
Another restaurant that's changing its menu is A'Trego in Cap d'Ail, which opened 10 months ago. A new team has been installed in the kitchen, headed by Chef de Cuisine Patrice Lafon, who's previously worked at the Chateau de la Chevre d'Or in Eze Village. The menu hasn't been finalized yet, but is likely to include re-visited classic seasonal dishes such as tomato and mozzarella salad, and melon and Iberian ham. Lunch menu formulas currently start at 28 euros.
What's in the diary...
Thursday: Grand Prix art.
Friday: 1st beach jazz gig, last match on home turf.
Saturday: 5 month Brit art expo begins.
Sunday: Historic Monaco Grand Prix.
Coming up next week, judging at the heart of Europe.
