Ooh wakka doo wakka day (1)

We're thinking of others this weekend, as Monaco raises funds for local charities and to fight AIDS and rare genetic diseases.

What's new?

It's December, the streets are all lit up, and it's time for your kids to tell Santa Claus what they want for Christmas. Special delivery post boxes can be found in the Metropole Centre from today, and the gallery shops are planning to open every Sunday up to Christmas, as well as the 8th December holiday.

It was confirmed this week that the space vacated by Ni Tapas is to be transformed into an Italian restaurant by Flavio Briatore. If you've had your fill of Italian food, you may be interested to know that a company in Monaco is searching for a chef with experience in Lebanese and Moroccan cuisine, perhaps for the re-vamped Black Diamond? Finally, if you fancy yourself as a restaurateur, there's a 60 seat dining room for sale right in the centre of Monte Carlo, but you'll need 1.34m euros to spare.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Restaurants offer something for the weekend, Sir, on World AIDS Day.
Friday: Monaco's first flash mob for Telethon.
Saturday: Kermesse - ideal for bargain hunters.
Sunday: Music by Mahler.

Coming up next week, Christmas village, Monaco USA happy hour, ancient music on the Rock.

(1) This week's quote is the title of a song by one of Britain's best pop song writers, Gilbert O'Sullivan, born this day 1946. Still writing and touring, he's best known for his 1970s funky flat cap fashion.
