Monaco's Printemps des Arts starts at the weekend, with accordions, tambourines and Bruckner taking turns on stage over the next 4 weekends.

What's new?

Spring starts officially next week, and that means we're a step closer to the Grand Prix. On Monday workers start erecting the stands at the port, so this weekend is your last chance to enjoy the terraces at Before, Zest, Explorers Pub and Brasserie de Monaco.

Tomorrow sees the arrival of the first cruise ship of the season, Silver Wind. The floating luxury hotel accomodates around 300 passengers and is one of Monaco based Silversea Cruises' fleet.

On the food front, ice-cream fans will welcome the re-opening of Atelier du Glacier in Condamine, and Haagen Dazs' garden terrace. For something more savoury, try the oyster bar Ostrega de Munegu in Place d'Armes, or the first French asparagus of the season at La Chaumiere restaurant. Finally, Fairmont Hotel's roof top Horizon re-opens for breakfast and lunch on Monday, and Stella Polaris pizzeria snack bar is getting a new manager.

What's in the diary...

Thursday: Celebrating Japanese dolls and Irish saints.
Friday: Classical accordion or amateur rock.
Saturday: Beautiful Latvian voice.
Sunday: Runners and walkers are out in force.

Coming up next week, a beer, 7 wines, and some dragons.

(1) This week's quote is spoken by Julius Caesar in Shakespeare's play of the same name, and refers to today's date in the Roman calendar. Caesar was joking about a warning that he would come to harm that day, to which the soothsayer replied "Ay, Caesar, but not gone". Shortly afterwards, Caesar was assassinated.
