They want the world to know they're happy as can be!
Congratulations, celebrations, and jubilations. Yesterday the Prince's Palace announced that HSH Prince Albert II and his long time companion Charlene Wittstock are engaged to be married.
The couple met in 2000 when Charlene, a former Olympic swimmer for South Africa, traveled to Monaco for a swimming competition. She's lived in the Principality since 2006 and has been increasingly seen on the Prince's arm at the many galas and balls around town. Last week the couple attended the wedding of Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria, and now the whole of Monaco is waiting for a date to be announced for its own royal celebrations. According to protocol, it's likely we'll have to wait at least 6 months. Plenty of time to buy an outfit then!
