Regular wine tasting events.
If you enjoy a good bottle of wine, you'll be pleased to know there are several wine tasting evenings planned at A'Trego in Cap d'Ail.
Launched by Brigitte Leloup, VP of the Association des Sommeliers d'Europe, the events go under the name of Vin sur Vin. Each tasting features products from a guest vigneron, followed by a meal containing dishes designed to match the wines. On 24th July there's an introduction to the Tuscan wines of Podere Scurtarola Massa, with future evenings promoting cremants wines of Luxembourg, Slovenia's Domaine Monvi, the Coteaux de Visan, and actor Pierre Richard's Chateau Bel Eveque.
A'Trego and Brigitte Leloup follow in the steps of a number of other clubs and associations that have been holding regular tastings in Monaco. New World wine expert Bradley Mitton's The Twelve and Vivanova clubs promote Australian, New Zealand and South African wines. Evenings have been organized in several restaurants in the Principality, including Zest, the Fairmont and even A'Trego, where Mitton leads the tasting and matches the wines with food provided by the venues.
On the business networking side, the Wine and Business Club of SBM requires membership in order to participate in tastings. There are several clubs in cities throughout France, members of which tend to be business leaders, political figures or media moguls. The Monte Carlo oenophiles meet each month in the Hotel de Paris in partnership with SBM.
Of course, you don't need to attend a tasting to enjoy a fine glass of wine in Monaco. Bistroquet's Sabor di Vino sells a large selection of wines by the glass, and you can order a plate of charcuterie or cheese to go with your drink. A delicious, light evening meal in the current hot weather.
