Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra opens with Gershwin

New season starts 19th September.

It's not long now until the 2010-2011 Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra (OPMC) season begins. Last year the emphasis was on the musical heritage of the Russian Ballets. This season, Yakov Kreizberg and his team are exploring works by the great composers, including Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Rachmaninoff, and Mahler.

Starting on 19th September, the OPMC's new repertoire includes regular shows such as the annual Music at Midday (Midis Musicaux) concerts and introductory sessions for young people (A la Rencontre du Jeune Public). In addition, several performances are on the program featuring resident virtuoso violinist Julia Fischer. The orchestra's also created its own record label, OPMC Classics, with a first release planned for Autumn.

You'll find maBoum's concert listing for Autumn below, and don't forget to check back in November for the Winter program. With ticket prices ranging from 16 euros to 32 euros, and discounts for subscriptions, multiple bookings, and online reservations, there's no excuse for missing out on some great classical performances.
