Afternoon visit with canny canines

MonacoUSA is organizing a private tour of the guide dog education centre in Eze:
- Tuesday 24th June
- 14:00-16:00
- 15 euros minimum per person
- English and French speaking guides
If you'd like to join the trip, you're asked to RSVP before 17th June so that the centre knows how many visitors to expect and can arrange the right number of guides.
The education centre provides training for dogs that will eventually become companions for people who are blind or partially sighted. Potential young puppies are tested for aptitude aged around 7 weeks, and their behaviour, sociability and emotional balance are observed. After this, the most suitable puppies are placed with a family and receive basic education. They regularly visit the training school and from the age of 12 to 18 months are taught the necessary skills to ensure that they are able to avoid obstacles, walk along pavements and pedestrian crossings, use public transport and much more. When a dog is finally placed with an owner, it not only gives that person a more independent life, but provides comfort and security, and builds self-confidence.
The work of the centre will be supported by the 15 euros charge for the MonacoUSA tour. Cheques should be made payable to Les Chiens Guides d'Aveugles de Provence Cote D'Azur and mailed to:
- Merrily Lustig Tornatore
10 Boulevard de France
MC 9800 Monaco
Alternatively, you can make a cash payment to the centre on the day of the visit.
The school of the Chiens Guides d'Aveugles de Provence Cote d'Azur Corse is located above the Grande Corniche on the Route de la Revere, approx. 30 minutes drive from Monaco. Visitors must provide their own transport, so drivers are requested to contact the organizers if they have space for a passenger. It's possible to get there by bus, followed by a 2km uphill walk if you prefer the exercise.
