Eagles concert kicks off festivities.
The most important event of the year in Monaco gets under way tomorrow with the free Eagles concert offered to locals by Prince Albert II and his bride to be. Restaurants, bars and hotels are all joining in the celebrations, and some have more to do than others.
The Fairmont Hotel is providing catering for the cocktail reception offered to 6000 Monegasques on Friday, with dishes from both Monaco and South Africa, and beer from the Brasserie de Monaco. Virage restaurant is one of several eateries and bars offering special menus and a quayside seat to watch the Jean Michel Jarre concert, and there are parties afterwards at the Brasserie de Monaco and Ni Club. On Saturday, Cosmopolitan is organizing a garden party, and there's more music and dancing in the Port.
If you're staying in Monaco, you'll be able to watch the events on giant screens at various points around town: the Oceanographic Museum, Boulevard Albert 1er at Port Hercule, and Place Ste Devote. Those making a special trip to the Principality will find all the car parks free from Friday midday to Saturday evening. Monaco buses are also free, and extra services are being laid on by CAM for the concerts. There are also extra trains and buses between Monaco and Nice.
If you can't join us in the Principality for the celebrations, Monaco Info is providing live broadcasts on Friday and Saturday, and www.visitmonaco.com and www.palais.mc are hoping to stream the event live.
