Monaco sommelier navigates Port course

15th Master of Port awards coming up in June.

Julia Scavo of Alain Ducasse's Trattoria in Monaco has been selected to take part in the Master of Port semi-finals. The competition is organized by the Syndicat Des Grandes Marques De Porto (SGMP) the Union De La Sommellerie Francaise (UDSF) in partnership with the Institut Des Vins Du Douro Et De Porto (IVDP) and rewards sommeliers who promote Vinho do Porto.

Trainee sommeliers completed a regional selection process in January by answering questions based on their knowledge of Portuguese fortified wine. The ten best candidates have been selected to take part in the semi-finals and final in Paris, where winners are announced at an awards ceremony in the Portuguese Embassy on Monday 18th June. Julia Scavo is representing the PACA region along with Jean-Baptiste Klein of the Moulin de Mougins.
