First match in League 2 against Boulogne sur Mer.
Founded in 1919, AS Monaco FC has had a run of success for the past 34 years in French football league Division 1. After a disastrous season in 2010-2011 the Reds and Whites were demoted to League 2 and on Monday evening the team faced Boulogne sur Mer in the first game of the new season.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw, in spite of Monaco's domination of the first half. Manager Laurent Banide remains positive, saying there are lots of young players in the team who showed spirit and determination. He aims to climb back into the elite League 1 and is working on building the new players into a cohesive team.
