Luxury moves into Metropole

New boutiques opening.

Anyone who regularly walks through the Metropole shopping mall will have noticed some changes over the past year. Popular workers' breakfast spot the Salon du Cafe closed down and was replaced by Philipp Plein and his diamante skull. A few weeks ago the local newsagent closed and is soon to metamorphose into a luxury boutique.

Yes, the Metropole centre is being transformed into a special gallery for luxury brands in the heart of Monte Carlo. Gourmet grocery store Hediard has rented a spot, Parisian made-to-measure shoe designer Laurent Guyot too, and just round the corner, Dsquared2 will soon open its doors.

Current tenants are also sprucing themselves up. Lina's Sandwiches is being refurbished and should re-open imminently, Orcanta is to be re-modeled in Autumn, followed by Swarovski and Fauchon.

Let's hope the luxury shopping experience attracts plenty of big spenders, and that local residents don't have to go too far out of their way for a morning coffee and newspaper.
