2011-2012 season opens 27th September.
Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra's repertory for the new season remembers conductor Yakov Kreizberg who died in March 2010. Several musicians, conductors and soloists are visiting Monaco for the first time, performing works by Shostakovich, Rachmaninov and Mahler, composers who made up Kreizberg's preferred repertoire. There's also a French flavour with works by Ravel, Saint-Saens, Faure and Chausson. In addition to the live performances, Mahler's 5th Symphony and Shostakovich's 11th Symphony will be released on the OPMC Classics label, both works recorded under Kreizberg's musical direction.
Ticket prices are very reasonable, with discounts for groups of 10 or more. Lunchtime concerts (Midi Musical) are 8 euros, and performances for young people (a la Rencontre du Jeune Public) just 4 euros. Numbered seats at the Auditorium Rainier III, Salle Garnier and Grimaldi Forum range from 16 to 32 euros, around half price for kids. Prices for the opening concert are more expensive, ranging from 30 to 80 euros.
You can buy your tickets online now, with 10% discount from Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra or Monaco Spectacle. Otherwise the Casino atrium box office opens on 6th September, phone +377 98 06 28 28.
