Appointment of Artistic and Musical Director
Gianluigi Gelmetti has taken on the role of Artistic and Musical Director of the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Gelmetti has worked with the orchestra for the past 10 months as acting head and he now takes on the role full time. He previously led the orchestra from 1990 to 1991 and has since regularly conducted them at the Opera de Monte Carlo.
One of the new Director's missions is to aid the development and promotion of young orchestra leaders, and as such, a number of young guest conductors are to be invited to lead the orchestra in a series of concerts. Gelmetti will also be responsible for artistic development of the musicians, who can now look forward to a stable future.
