Epicurean road trip

Breakfast departure from Monte Carlo Beach

French hotel group Relais et Chateaux is mapping out a Cote d'Azur "route des epicuriens", to be launched in April 2013. The gourmet itinerary is an initiative of the group's PACA delegation, which includes SBM's Monte Carlo Beach hotel. Seven top notch chefs around the region are each creating a dish matched with a wine. The combined dishes make up a gourmet tasting menu, with each course in a different restaurant.

Chef Paolo Sari of Monte Carlo Beach provides the most important meal of the day, breakfast. The itinerary includes:

  • Fabrice Vulin, Chateau de la Chevre d'Or, Eze, market produce tapas
  • Laurent Paccini, Saint Paul, Saint Paul de Vence, speciality dish
  • Emmanuel Lehrer, Mas de Pierre, Saint Paul de Vence, seasonal starter
  • Philippe Jego, Cap d'Antibes Beach Hotel, Cap d'Antibes, "return from the auction" dish
  • Serge Gouloumes, Mas Candille, Mougins, traditional dish
  • Jacques Chibois, Bastide Saint Antoine, Grasse, sweet dish

The epicurean route costs 350 euros and includes drinks. There's also a special package, price 1250 euros per person, which includes an overnight stay for 2 people, breakfast, and champagne gala dinner with Pommery.

A second epicurean itinerary is planned in Provence, with 6 dishes for 300 euros, or 1150 euros including overnight stay.
