A new comedy film at the cinema this week to cheer you up now that everyone's back at work. Tamara Drewe is based on a cartoon strip of the same name in the UK's Guardian newspaper. Published as a comic strip book in France, it won the Prix de la Critique prize in 2009, awarded by the Association des Critiques et des Journalistes de Bande Dessinee to the best comic album. A review of the film says:
- The rural Dorset setting and cast of mostly middle-class characters gives it the feeling of a French comedy in the spirit of Claude Chabrol, [director Stephen] Frears said. "I keep thinking that Dorset in [sic] the new Provence."
