BOMO book boutique now open for business
The New Year has brought a new English bookshop to Monaco. BOMO Book Boutique opened its doors on 2nd January on the corner of rue Terrazzani and avenue du Port in La Condamine.
It's been a long time since we had a dedicated outlet for English books in the Principality. The previous bookshop, Scruples, on rue Princesse Caroline, closed over 5 years ago, and was replaced by an ice-cream parlour called Atelier du Glacier. Since then, we've had to buy our books from Amazon or Fnac, borrow from the English library, or download from Gutenberg.
With the arrival of BOMO, we now have an option that offers more than just words on paper. Its 60 square metres stocks not only a large selection of cookbooks, classics and best sellers, but also contains a reading area for children. In addition, owner Siri Khalsa hopes to provide somewhere that people will use to meet and feel part of a community. To that effect BOMO is to host reading, writing and story-telling events for all ages. Soon there'll be a grand, official opening celebration, and already the British Association is holding a cocktail there later this month.
