Getting about from 1st to 3rd July.
More information has been released today for those of us who are in Monaco during the wedding celebrations of Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock. Most of the Principality is freely accessible except for a few security zones. Here's the information in brief:
Buses
- free travel 1st and 2nd July
- modified routes 1st to 3rd July for numbers 1, 2, 5 and 6
- 2nd July, routes 1 and 2 terminate at Parking des Pecheurs between 15:00 and 21:00
Parking
Access to Parking des Pecheurs under the Rock is reserved for ticket holders and guests of the wedding. If you're lucky enough to have an invitation, entry to the car park is from Fontvieille, through the tunnel under the Rocher and along quai Antoine 1er.
Monaco Ville (the Rock)
It will still be possible to get up to the old town on 1st and 2nd July. Access for the general public is by either avenue de la Porte Neuve, the lifts and escalators from Parking des Pecheurs and the steps from Fort Antoine. Several areas will have restricted access, so avoid:
- Place du Palais - reserved for Monegasques from 16:00 on 1st July
- Rampe Major - access route for Place du Palais
- 3 central streets from the Mairie to Place du Palais (rue Comte Felix Gastaldi, rue Bellando de Castro, rue Emile de Loth)
- ruelle Sainte-Barbe, rue Colonel Bellando de Castro, rue des Remparts
