Access to Monaco during the Prince's wedding

Where you can go and what's open.

With just a few more weeks to go, we now know that Alain Ducasse is to provide the food for the wedding feast of Prince Albert II and Charlene Wittstock, and that he'll use products from the Prince's vegetable garden at Rocagel. Monaco's tourist authority has just released information on Facebook about access to the Principality during the celebrations. If you're not a Facebook user, here's maBoum's resume of the information:

  • Shopping
    Friday 1st shops open
    Saturday 2nd only shops with less than 30 employees may open
    Sunday 3rd shops open
  • 8 giant screens
    2 at Palace Square, 1 at Cathedral, 1 at Oceanographic Museum, 1 at Sainte Devote, 3 on the Quai Albert 1er
    Screens are to show repeat images from the wedding on Sunday 3rd
  • Security and access
    NO access to Hotel de Paris, Hotel Hermitage, Palace, Monte Carlo Casino
    The Rocher (Rock) is accessible by road or Parking des Pecheurs, but NOT up the Rampe Major
    Barriers are to be installed along the route of the newlyweds' tour
    Buses and car parks will be free of charge
