Summer street theatre returns.
For 40 years, the annual Fort Antoine dans la Ville season has brought an eclectic mix of street theatre to the Principality. The aim of the program is to promote living theatre that engages the audience, and 17 companies have been invited to participate this year. From 12th July to 16th August there are productions in the Fort Antoine Theatre itself, as well as 2 evenings dedicated to street entertainment, with circus, music and cabaret in various spots around Monaco.
Ordinarily, we don't post many French language events, since most of our readers are anglophones. However even if your French is not very good, you can take advantage of the Fort Antoine season. Shows are all free, and most have a high visual content in relation to the spoken word. There's music, dance, facial expressions, mime, masks and costumes, so you can enjoy the spectacle without knowing too much of the language. And what better way to learn French and experience the culture.
