20th Monaco Yacht Show

Another carbon neutral event.

Just one more week before Port Hercule plays host to the 20th Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). From 22nd to 25th September around 100 superyachts measuring from 25 to 90 metres moor up in the harbour, and 500 exhibitors set up their stalls.

In past years the MYS was a carbon-neutral event, but this year its aim is to help the environment by financing sustainable development projects, including backing initiatives to help protect tropical rain forests. It's joined forces with the Fondation Prince Albert II (FPA2), which is launching its "Wood Forever" project in partnership with the MC2D Association. The initiative aims to raise awareness in the yachting industry of the problem of deforestation and to persuade builders and decorators to use wood that comes from sustainable sources.

In the past, the MYS has offset its carbon emissions against sustainable projects such as:

  • wind farms and turbines
  • a coal methane capture project
  • reforestation

In addition, 50% of the 60 euro entrance fee is once again being given to the Monaco Association against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (AMM).
