Theatre des Variétés is screening Japanese film Koibumi (1953) on Tuesday in its original language, with French subtitles.

Eating & drinking

If you've always wondered what Venezuelan cuisine is like, your luck is in. From today pop-up restaurant Taera opens daily, 12:00 to 19:00 in Hotel de Paris, with food prepared by chef Victoria Vallenilla.

Also in the Hotel de Paris, SBM's culinary Festival des Etoiles continues, this time in rooftop restaurant Le Grill. Dinner on Friday and Saturday is being prepared by Monaco's Dominique Lory and British starred-chef Jason Atherton.

If you can't make that, then how about Yannick Alleno's Parisian brunch on Sunday at his Pavyllon in the Hermitage Hotel. Reservations +377 98 06 98 98.

Sometimes tho' you just want something less fancy and more hearty, so how about a Sausage Festival in Fontvieille. Meet at Gerhard's bar tomorrow from 19:00, and Saturday from 15:00, where DJ Harry provides Bavarian backing music to go with the bangers. Phone +377 92 05 25 79 for more information.

Music

Tomorrow evening French singer-songwriter Bastien Lallemant is performing in Louis Notari library. Check out his music on YouTube.

On Wednesday Bulgarian musician Mey sings soulful jazz at Note Bleue.

As for classical music, there's a symphonic tribute to Rachmaninov on Sunday, a children's concert (with French narration) on Wednesday afternoon, and an hommage to Puccini at the Theatre des Varietes on Wednesday evening.

Monte Carlo E-Rally sets off from behind the Casino on Wednesday and continues daily until Sunday 22 October.

Theatre & shows

Grimaldi Forum is putting on the musical West Side Story this weekend. Inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, with music by Leonard Bernstein, choreography by Jerome Robbins, and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, there are four performances: tomorrow evening, Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday afternoon.

And finally...

That's more than enough to keep us entertained this weekend. But don't forget, there's lots more to do in Monaco, especially if you speak French. Check out VisitMonaco's website for suggestions.
