Hot on the heels of Starbucks, Emilie's Cookies yesterday tempted the Principality's coffee drinkers into its new premises at the Jardins d'Apolline. The Monaco address is the 3rd store that the Nicois brand has opened.

Emilie's original cookie and coffee shop was established in 2007 in the centre of Nice, followed by a second outlet in the city's old town. The company claims to be the first French business to import the American coffee shop concept, of which Starbucks is a prime example. In addition to its eponymous cookies, Emilie's sells American style products that are hand-made in the shop, such as muffins, cheesecake and cupcakes. Hot chocolate and tea are on the beverage menu, as are smoothies, fresh juices and milk shakes. And for lunch there's a selection of salads, bagels and quiches.

The shop interior is designed so you feel at home, with sofas, tables and free wifi, but if you don't want to eat in, it's possible to buy to takeaway. Opening hours are from 8:00 to 18:00, and if you want to see what's available, you'll find a full listing of menu items on the shop's website at: Emilie's Cookies menu.
